Attica – Fern Helms Brown, 87, formerly of 412 E. New St, Attica, died at 12:10 p.m. Monday in Woodland Manor Nursing Center in Attica. Born in Fountain County, near Attica, Nov 29, 1899 she was a graduate of Attica High School. She lived in Wingate from 1912 until moving to Attica in 1916. Her marriage was April 9, 1912 near Attica to Charles Edwin Brown, who was a former president of Central National Bank in Attica. He died April 21, 1974. Mrs. Brown was a member of First United Methodist Church of Attica; a 50 year member of Attica Chapter 125, Order of Eastern Star; and member of Women’s Literary Club. There are no immediate survivors.

“Funeral Notices” – Brown, Fern – Visitation at Maus Funeral Home, Attica, 4-8 p.m. Wednesday. Service in Maus Chapel 11 a.m. Thursday, the Rev. Earl D. Owen and Don Glover officiating. Interment Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Surviving is a granddaughter, Linda R. Rethmeyer of Bloomington, several nieces and nephews. A daughter, Ruth Elaine Rethmeyer died in 1955. – kbz
