ATTICA, Ind. (CNS) - Mrs. Mary Ellen Kockenberg Brooks, 48, of 210 Main, Williamsport, died at 2:35 a.m. today (Nov. 15, 1968) at the Community Hospital. She had been a patient there one week. Born June 13, 1920, near Kramer, she was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Synesael Kockenberg. A life resident of Fountain and Warren counties, she had resided in Williamsport for 20 years. She was married, April 2, 1936, in Frankfort, Ind., to Roland T. Brooks, who survives. Mrs. Brooks was a member of the Williamsport Methodist Church, WSCS, Afternoon Bunco Club and Birthday Club. Other survivors include two sons, Ronald Lee "Jake" of Covington and Robert at home; seven daughters, Mrs. Shirley Zenor of Williamsport Route 3, Mrs. Delores Chambers of Indianapolis, Mrs. Betty Painter of Newtown, Mrs. Sandy Booe of Mellott, Mrs. Alice Howard of Williamsport, Helen and Sharon, both at home; four sisters, Mrs. Zeta Stetler of Attica, Mrs. Josephine Rice of Ligonier, Ind., Mrs. Louise Dodgins of Lansing, Mich., and Mrs. Francis Davidson of Clermont, Ind.; two brothers, Charles Kockenberg and Emiel Kockenberg, both of Attica; two half brothers, Clarence Contrell of Eaton Rapids, Mich., and Edward Cottrell of Attica; and 16 grandchildren. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Williamsport Methodist Church. The Rev. Rex Marrs will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. The body is at the DeSutter Funeral Home. Friends will be received after 6 p.m. Saturday. The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. Sunday. --Typed by RS.

WILLIAMSPORT - Mrs. Mary Ellen Brooks, 48, of 210 Main St., Williamsport, died Friday morning, 2:35 a.m., at Community Hospital in Williamsport where she had been a patient since Nov. 8. Her death was sudden and unexpected. Mrs. Brooks was born in Warren County near Kramer, on June 13, 1920, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Synesael Koekenberg. She was a resident of Fountain and Warren Counties all her life and a resident of Williamsport the past 20 years. She was married April 2, 1936, in Frankfort, to Roland T. Brooks, a brick-mason for Kemmer Construction Co., Lafayette. She was a housewife, a member of the Williamsport Methodist Church and the WSCS of the church, the Afternoon Bunco Club and the Birthday Club. Surviving besides the husband are seven daughters, Mrs. Shirley Zenor, Rt. 3, Willlamsport; Mrs. Delores Chambers, Indianapolis; Mrs. Betty Joan (Kay) Painter, Newtown; Mrs. Sandy Booe, Mellott; Helen Brooks and Sharon Brooks, at home; Mrs. Alice Howard, Williamsport; two sons, Ronald Lee (Jake) Brooks, Covington, and Robert Brooks, at home; four sisters, Mrs. Zeta Stetler, Attica; Mrs. Josephine Rice, Ligonier; Mrs. Louise Dodgins, Lansing, Mich.; Mrs. Frances Davidson, Clermont; four brothers, Charles Koekenberg; Emil Koekenberg, Attica; Clarence Cottrell, Eaton Rapids, Mich.; Edward Cottrell, Attica. Sixteen grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Williamsport United Methodist Church. Rev. Rex Marrs officiated. Mrs. Lela Vaughn and Mrs. Willa Jordan sang "The Old Rugged Cross' and "Amazing Grace," accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Donna Beckner. Pallbearers were William McKinzie, Robert Dunn, John Brooks, Gary Stetler, Melvin Davidson and John Koekenberg. Burial was in the family lot in Williamsport. DeSutter Funeral Home had charge of arrangements. - jlr
