Last Friday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William K. Martin occurred the death of William Bromley. He had been ill for sixteen months and his death had been expected for some time. The funeral took place on Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the home, Rev. S. W. Goss officiating.  Mr. Bromley was born in Brown County, Ohio, October 25, 1818. His parents died when he was a mere child and at the age of nine years he came to Meharry’s Grove and was raised in the family of Hugh Meharry. On June 11, 1846, he was married to Angeline Crane at her father’s home in Tippecanoe County. Mr. Bromley was in business at Pleasant Hill until 1858, when he came to Crawfordsville. He with his family lived here ever since, except two years passed in Fountain County.  Mr. Bromley as a business man here enjoyed the confidence and esteem of all. He was postmaster of the city under President Lincoln and served two terms as trustee of Union Township. Mr. Bromley was the father of nine children, only two of whom, Mrs. I. N. VanSickle and Mrs. W. K, Martin, survive with their mother.  Mr. Bromley was an excellent citizen and his life was passed to the good of the community in which he lived.
