Covington - Lessie L. Briney, 83, a resident of Covington died at 8 a.m. Wednesday at her home. She had been ill a short time. Mrs. Briney moved to Covington in 1962 from Shawnee Township. She was a member of Fountain Willing Workers and attended Fountain Christian Church. She was born Jan 19, 1889 in Fountain County, the daughter of Abe and Sena Swafford Auter. She married Mark Briney in 1913. He died September 11, 1962. She is survived by a son, Robert of Hillsboro; a grandson, Robert Jr. of Crawfordsville and four sisters, Mrs. Lawrence (Sadie) Pitzer of Rt 1, Attica; Mrs. Blanche Marr of Covington and Mrs. Pearl Gayler and Mrs. Iva Pitzer both of Attica. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home at Attica with Rev. James Daniel officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Attica. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Thursday. - kbz

  Mrs. Lessie L. Briney, 84, of 809 Seventh, died at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 1974 at her home. She had been ill a short time.  Born Jan. 19, 1889 in Fountain County, she was the daughter of Abe and Sena Swafford Auter. She was married in 1913 to Mark Briney, who died Sept. 11, 1962.   Mrs. Briney was a resident of Shawnee Township all of her life until moving to Covington in 1962. She was a member of the Fountain Christian Church and Fountain Willing Workers.   Survivors include a son, Robert of Hillsboro; a grandson, Robert Jr. of Crawfordsville, and four sisters, Mrs. Lawrence (Sadie) Pitzer of Attica Route 1, Mrs. Blanche Marr of Covington, Mrs. Pearl Gayler of Mrs. Iva Pitzer, both of Attica.  She was preceded in death by a grandson. Services were at 2 p.m. Friday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home. The Rev. James Daniel officiated.
