WILLIAMSPORT — Elizabeth L. (Bannon) Briles, 91, died at 7:10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001 in Country Care Nursing Center, Williamsport. She had been a resident there the past 12 years. She was born in Warren County Jan. 7, 1910, the daughter of John Edwin and Stella Mae Starkey Bannon. She married Sam Briles, owner/operator of Briles Excavating, Trucking and Hauling, Dec. 15, 1928. He preceded in death March 26, 1989. She graduated from Judyville High School. She had lived in Okeechobee, Fla. from 1972 until her return to Williamsport in 1990. She was a homemaker and an Avon representative for several years. She was a member of the Attica-Williamsport Presbyterian Church and taught Sunday School for several years at the Williamsport Presbyterian Church. She was a member of O.E.S. Chapter 162 in West Lebanon. Survivors include: two sons, Richard S. (Sheryl) Briles, Williamsport and Larry W (Teal) Briles, Attica; two sisters, Josephine Warrick, Crawfordsville and Pauline Rice, Lafayette; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Briles; a son, Robert Briles; seven brothers; and eight sisters. Funeral services were at 4 p.m. Sunday in Grady. Funeral Home, Williamsport, with the Rev. Don Williams officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Country Care Van or Warren County Mac Van. – jlr
