Mrs. Frank Bright who resided two miles northwest of Rainsville was fatally injured last Friday morning when she was attacked by a vicious cow. Mrs. Bright had opened the door of a corn crib so the chickens could enter. A cow stationed herself in front of the door, blocking the entrance. Mrs. Bright attempted to drive the cow away from the door. The animal has a young calf and objected to being molested and turning on Mrs. Bright butted her down and trampled her. She was bruised about the body and she suffered a bad cut on one of her legs, made by the cows hoof. The wound became infected and blood poisoning developed, death resulting at 7 o’clock Tuesday morning. When her condition became critical her brothers, William and John Knaur and the latter’s wife of Denison, Tex were telegraphed and they made a run to Indiana as fast as trains could bring them in an effort to reach the bedside of the dying woman while she was still alive. It was a race with death and they would have won had not their train, No 28 on the Wabash been two hours late, Tuesday morning. Instead of landing them in Attica at 5:40 a.m. the train did not reach Attica until about 7, just about the time Mrs. Bright breathed her last. Carl Bright was at the station here waiting for them and he made a hurried run with them in his auto to the Frank Bright home but they found that death had won by about an hour in the race. Mrs. Bright was 61 years old and was born and spent most of her life in Warren County and besides the husband is survived by two brothers, William and John Knaur of Denison, Tex. The deceased was a member of the College Corner ME Church and was a leader in that organization as well as in the social affairs of the community. The funeral will be conducted from the home this afternoon and burial will be made in Boswell cemetery.
