Martha Gossett Bridge, 77, formerly of the Tangier community and Clinton area, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 1996 at Lakeview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Terre Haute. She was born June 6, 1918, in Rogers, Tenn., the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Hawkins) Mitchell. On April 26, 1936, she married Straudy Gossett. He preceded her in death on June 17, 1963. In 1967, she married Everett Bridge, who survives. Also surviving, are: four sons, Straudy Gossett Jr. of Veedersburg, Ray Gossett of Danville, Ill., Rommy Gossett of Terre Haute and Roy of Crawfordsville; five daughters, Mary Catherine Graham of Danville, Ill., Helen Thomas of rural Tangier, Betty Gear heart of Kingman Route 1, Martha White of Attica and Elizabeth Larimer of Hoopeston, Ill.; two sisters, Helen Brook of Lodi and Sidney Osborn of Clinton; 37 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a brother, a son, and a grandchild. Visitation was thursday at Woodrow Funeral Home, Kingman. Service there on Friday with Rev. Bill Medlin officiating. Interment in Ephlin Cemetery, southeast of Howard. – jlr
