VEEDERSBURG - Leonard A. Brewer, age 51, retired member of the United States Air Force, died at 8 a.m. Friday, July 12, in the Veterans Hospital in Danville, Ill. He had entered the hospital on Monday. Mr. Brewer had served more than 20 years in the Air Force, and just a short time before his death, was the chief of the Veedersburg Police Department. He also worked for the Fountain County Old Guard Post 2395, Veterans of Foreign Wars, of which he is a member, at the Post Home in Covington. In addition, he was affiliated with the Charles Forrest Post 288, American Legion of Veedersburg. He was a member of the Veedersburg United Methodist Church. He was born in Veedersburg on Aug. 19, 1916, the son of Till and Jennie Leonard Brewer. His mother survives and lives in Veedersburg. Surviving in addition to his mother, with whom he made his home, are: three sisters, including his twin, Mrs. Vivian Keeling of Veedersburg, Mrs. Theriza Keeling, also of Veedersburg, and Mrs. Helen Reno of St. Louis, Mo., and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Centenary Methodist Church with Rev. Mrs. Edith Bruner in charge. Burial was in Rockfield Cemetery, near Veedersburg. Chaplain Kenneth Nettle of Chanute Air Force Base was in charge of graveside rites, assisted by the VFW of Covington. Parham Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
