BRAWLEY, John Locke

John Locke Brawley, a former resident of Augusta, was born in Shepherdstown, Pa., January 30, 1850. At the age of 18 months he moved with his parents to Covington, Ind, where he grew to young manhood. In the year 1872 he decided to come west to make his home, settling near Severy, Kansas. In 1876 he returned to Indiana where he married to Miss Elizabeth Krout, they returning to Greenwood county, Kansas, where they spent their entire married life, excepting one year which they spent in Augusta, where Mrs. Brawley passed away March 16, 1912. Mr. Brawley remained in Augusta until February, 1915, when he returned to his old home, where he quietly passed away Monday, November 25, 1918, at the age of 68 years.
He leaves to mourn his loss two sons, James C and Harry L., and two daughters, Mrs. O.E. Holmes and Miss Haley Brawley, and eight grandchildren, all of Severy.
He united with the Christian church in january, 1887, in which he remained a faithful member.
Funeral services were held from the home conducted by Rev. Clawson, pastor of the M.E. Church of Eureka, Wednesday, November 27th, Burial was in the Severy cemetery. – thanks to Kim H
