JESSE BRANT

Source: Crawfordsville Daily Journal 10 August 1920 p 1

Hillsboro, Aug 10 - Jesse Brant, one of the most prominent and influential farmers of this vicinity, was found dead in bed this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Albert Livengood, where he had been making his home for the past several years, about 4 miles east of town. He had been in failing health for several months, suffering from kidney and heart trouble, and it is thought that the immediate cause of his death was a heart attack. Mr. Brant was 66 years of age. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Brant and was born and lived the greater part of his life on the same farm wher ehe died. His wife, who was Miss Emma Ludlow before her marriage, preceded him in death 10 years ago. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Katherine Bever, and one daughter, Mrs. Albert Livengood. Mr. Brant retired las tnight feeling as well as usual and when Mr. Livengood went to call him this morning he thought him asleep so didn't bother him. Mrs. Livengood went to the room sometime later and found her father dead. A doctor was called immediately and he said from all indications Mr. Brant had died a very few minutes after retiring. No funeral arrangements have been made as yet. The funeral will be held at the home Thursday morning at 11 o'clock with Rev. W.D. Hedges of Indianapolis in charge. Burial will take place in the Masonic Cemetery at Waynetown.
