Covington—Fred F. Brant, 89, of Covington, died at 10:05 p.m. Monday (June 17, 1974) at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Ill. He had been a patient there a few hours and ill about nine months.
He was born Sept. 5, 1884, in Tippecanoe County, the son of Jessie and Viola Pixley Brant. He married Mary Ida Beduhn, who died Aug. 31, 1960. He then married Brentice Stever on June 4, 1962. She survives.
A resident of Covington since 1941, he retired from the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad as engineer after 30 years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and Masonic Lodge 60 F&AM, both of Covington.
Other survivors include a son, Robert of Indianapolis; a daughter, Mrs. Viola Cliff of Indianapolis; a stepson, Arthur Engle of Chicago, Ill.; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, three sisters and three brothers.
Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert H. Miller officiating. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery. -s
