Jesse Branham, 74, of Chicago, a resident of Danville most of his life, died at 11:35 a.m. yesterday (Dec. 6, 1968) at Lake View Memorial Hospital. Born Oct. 21, 1894 in Indianola, he was the son of Sherman and Armeda Branham. He was married Dec. 13, 1952, in Danville to Genevieve Sadewasser, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Fred Branham of Westville and Harry Branham of Danville; two daughters, Mrs. Elsie Knaur of Sun Valley, Calif. and Mrs. Betty McMahon of Westville; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers. Mr. Branham worked 27 years as a roofer and was formerly employed by the Henry Bireline Co. here and Dobbins Roofing Co. He was a member of Local 11, Roofers Union of Chicago, and attended the Baptist church. Active in baseball for many years, he played first base and catcher for the Three I League in Danville. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Barrick & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Garth Sibert officiating. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 tonight and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
