BRANDENBURG, Lou Wilhite Hershberger

VEEDERSBURG — Mrs. Lou Brandenburg, 54 years old, died Friday night at Culver Hospital of a heart ailment. She had been a patient there for the past 10 days. Mrs. Brandenburg was a member of the Sterling Christian Church. She was born near Mellott on Feb. 9, 1899, the daughter of John and Mary Fowler Wilhite. She was married to Clark Hershberger and after his death she married Roy Brandenburg, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Clark Hershberger Jr. and Jerry Hershberger, both of Veedersburg, and two sisters, Mrs. Cecil Bowes of Indianapolis and Mrs. Freeman McBride of Veedersburg. The body was taken to the Fishero Funeral Home in Veedersburg. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. - kbz

Mrs. Lou Ellen Brandenburg, highly regarded woman of the Veedersburg and Sterling community died last Friday night at Culver Hospital of a heart ailment. She had been a patient there for 10 days preceding her death. Mrs. Brandenburg was a life resident of Fountain County and an active member of the Sterling Christian Church, the Legion Auxiliary the War Mothers Club and the Van Buren home economics club. She was born near Mellott Feb 9, 1899 the daughter of John and Mary WILHITE. She was first married to Clark W. Hershberger in 1920 who preceded her in death.  In 1950 she was united in marriage to Roy Brandenburg, who survives. Besides the husband, she is survived by two sons, Clark W. Hershberger of Veedersburg and Pfc. Jerry Lee Hershberger who is home on furlough from duty in the far East; three stepchildren, Ivan Brandenburg of Indianapolis; Mrs. Betty Spurgeon of Newark Ohio and Jerry at home; two grandchildren and five step grandchildren; two sisters Mrs. Effie McBridge of Rob Roy and Mrs. Oka Boze of Crawfordsville. Funeral services were Sunday afternoon at the Sterling Christian Church with Rev. Guy Walters officiating. Burial was in Bonebrake Cemetery with the Fishero Funeral Home in charge. – kbz
