Covington, Ind. — Pvt. John L. Brakley, 23, died May 15 on Luzon, according to a War Department telegram received by his wife, Mrs. Wilma Brakley. Private Brakley attended Covington schools prior to entering the Army in October, 1942. He had been overseas 31 months. Two weeks before being notified of her husband's death, Mrs. Brakley received a letter written by him.
