BRAKLEY, Caleb - WWII

Caleb Brakley of Covington, age 64, died Monday morning, March 16, at St. Elizabeth Hospital at Danville, Illinois. He was born in Covington, July 30, 1916, the son of Caleb and Henrietta Carrier Brakley. June 17, 1939, he married Pauline Walters, who survives.

  Brakley was a member of Fountain Masonic Lodge and Wallace Low 12 Club. He received a bronze star while serving with the Army in Europe during World War II. He was an employee of the M & J Summers Trucking Company of Covington and formerly was employed by Fairchild Trucking Company and as a mechanic at Grubb Implement and Dillon Implement.

  Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Sharon Barber of Covington and Mrs. Ruth Ann Crowder of RR 1, Attica; a son, Charles R. of RR 1, Covington; a brother, Loran of Highland; and four grandsons.
  Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington with burial in Bonebrake Cemetery south of Veedersburg. Masonic memorial rites were held at the funeral home Tuesday night. – thanks to S
