Cates, Ind. (CNS) — Guy Gilbert Bracken, 62, postmaster at Cates since February 1951 and operator of a hardware store there for the past 29 years, died at 4:10 p.m. yesterday (Feb. 28, 1967) at his home. He had been ill 18 months and seriously ill four months. Born Sept. 27, 1904, in Cates, he was the son of William C. and Mary L. Irwin Bracken. He was married Jan. 11, 1938, to Rovigne Holland, who survives. Mr. Bracken was a member of the Cates EUB Church, Yeddo Masonic Lodge and Wallace Low 12 Club. Other survivors include two sons, William G. and Wayne L., both of Covington; two daughters, Mrs. Joyce Williams of Danville and Guyann at home; two brothers, Ray of Cates and Paul of Terre Haute, and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Cates EUB Church. The Rev. E. V. Wamsley and the Rev. Nelson Vance will officiate. Burial will be in the Harveysburg Cemetery. The body is at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home and will be taken to the family residence where friends will be received after noon Thursday. The body will be taken to the church an hour before services.
