COVINGTON - Emory E. Boyer, age 69, of Covington Rt. 1, died at 6:05 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Ill. He had been a patient there one day and had been ill nine and a half years. Mr. Boyer was born Oct. 18, 1901, in Kansas, Ill., the son of William E. and Carrie Mae Radabaugh Boyer. He was married June 4, 1924, to Ruth F. Waters, who survives. He had resided in Fountain County since 1940. He farmed until 1951 when he went to work for the Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Peoria, Ill. He retired from this position in 1961. He was a member of the Christian Church at Kansas, Ill. Surviving, in addition to the wife, are: three sons, Wayne E. of Rossville, Ill., Roy J. of Danville, and F. Eugene of West Chicago, Ill.; three daughters, Mrs. William (Anna Mae) Denny of Danville, Mrs. Beryl (Mary) Vollmer of Veedersburg Rt. 2, and Miss Julie D. Boyer, at home; five brothers, Ray, Gerald and Frank, all of Kansas, Earl of Hindsvoro and Ira of Redman; three sisters, Mrs. Grace Waters of East Peoria, Mrs. Mary Hudson of Hammond and Mrs. Lucille Weber of Kansas; 19 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother and one grandson. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home here. The Rev. Alfred Dobbs and the Rev. Michael Sabens officiated. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery here.
