Martha E. BOWMAN, daughter of Daniel and Louise Shepard Wilkinson was born near Cincinnati, Ohio Dec 11, 1857. When she was 7 years of age the family moved to the vicinity of Wallace and here she grew to womanhood and in 1874 she was united in married to Henry Bowman. After her marriage she and her husband began housekeeping on a farm near Wallace, continuing to live in that vicinity until the death of her husband in 1925, since which time she has resided with her children. She had been in declining health and the past two years and seriously ill for the past 10 weeks and while every effort was put forth to prolong her life, yet it was not to be for in the early evening on Wednesday Oct 23 (1929), she passed peaceful away at the age of 71 years 10 months 12 days, leaving to mourn 3 daughters, Mrs. Sarah Crisp of Scipio, Ind; Mrs. Rilla Wildman of Wallace and Mrs. Uma Keller of Manteno, Ill. Two sons, Joseph of Wallace and homer of Manteno, ill 14 grandchildren; one great; two sisters, Mrs. Abbie Alward of Wallace and Mrs. Jacob Bowman of Wallace; one brother, Albert Wilkinson of Veedersburg, man y other relatives and a host of friends. Many years ago and under the pastorate of John C. Myers, she united with the Wallace Christian church an continued a member of that church to the end. Her life for the most part had been lived within the one vicinity where she was known as a devoted wife and mother, a good neighbor and Christian lady. Her life has been so lived that it has left an impression for good upon all who have known her these many years. But at last she came to the end of life's journey and passed on to her reward and may peace be unto her departed soul.
