Ferris Bowman, 68, a former Lafayette resident and agent for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. here, died Tuesday morning in a hospital at Austin, Tex. Mr. Bowman resided at Marble Falls, Tex. Born at Wingate, he lived here in the 1940s. Due to ill health, he retired in 1969 as vice president of Metropolitan at Pittsburgh, Pa. He later moved to Texas. Among the survivors are the widow, Dorothy; three children and two sisters.
WINGATE – Ferris L. Bowman, 68, of Marble Falls, Tex., a former Wingate resident, died Tuesday in an Austin, Tex., hospital. He had been in failing health for the past year. Mr. Bowman was a 1931 graduate of Wabash College where he lettered in basketball and baseball. He was a member of the Methodist Church and was a veteran with service in the U. S. Navy. Mr. Bowman retired as vice president of Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy; two daughters, Nancy Lloyd of Clarksville and Ann Cornwell of North Carolina; a son, Robert of Austin; three sisters, Mrs. Saralee Gobel of Crawfordsville, Mrs. Priscilla Guinn of South Bend and Louise McClure of Macomb, Ill. a brother, Edward of Bellmont, Ill.; and five grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Clements Mortuary at Marble Falls. – jlr
