Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, Jan. 22, at the Crumley Funeral Home in Hillsboro for Arista M. Bowman, age 63, a lifetime resident of Wallace who died in Culver Hospital at 9:30 p. m. Thursday, Jan. 19, from complications following a heart attack. The Rev. Nobel Carothers of Crawfordsville officiated and he was assisted by the Rev. J. W. Grimes Jr. of Waveland. Burial was in the Lutheran Cemetery in Wallace. Mr. Bowman was born Feb. 3, 1897, in Wallace and his parents were Henry and Amanda Harper Bowman. On Oct. 19, 1921, he married Minnie Jackson in Rockville. He was a member of the Wallace Christian Church and was educated in the Jackson Township schools. Mr. Bowman was custodian of Wallace High School until his retirement four years ago. The deceased is survived by his widow; a. son, Larry Bowman; five sisters, Mrs. Fanny Weeks, Mrs. Goldie Bayless and Mrs. Corda McCollum of Wallace and Mrs. Belda Harper and Mrs. Flossie Shaffer of Hillsboro; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral rites for Arista Bowman were held in the Crumly Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Rev. Billy Grimes presided during the services and organ music was provided by Mrs. Joe Newnum. Burial was Sunday in the Lutheran Cemetery in Wallace. Pallbearers who also assisted with the flowers were: Gene Ellingwood, Frank Gray, Boyd Williams, John Rodgers, Ralph Myers and Byron Uplinger. – jlr
