BOWLING, Dessie West - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

CATES — Mrs. Dessie D. Bowling, age 87, died at 4:15 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15, at the Friendship Nursing Home in Bloomingdale where she had resided since July of 1965. She had been a resident of Fountain County most of her life. She was a member of the Linwood Christian Church at Indianapolis. Mrs. Bowling was born in Jennings County, July 11, 1880, the daughter of William and Eva Grinsted West. She married Charles C. Bowling on Nov. 7, 1897 and he preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 1947. Surviving are: three sons, Charles of Long Beach, Calif., Wilmer of Indianapolis and Marvin of Cates; one daughter, Mrs. Sylvia Bowling of Indianapolis; 18 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home in Covington. The Rev. Eston Brooks officiated and burial was in the Osborne Prairie Cemetery, northeast of Covington.
