BOWERS, Leona - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Word was received in Hillsboro Monday morning of the death of Mrs. Leona C . Bowers, 70, who died Sunday night  at 9:25 at the Addison Community hospital in North Adams, Mich., where she was taken Saturday morning suffering from pneumonia.  Her husband, Warren C. Bowers, is publisher of the North Adams Advocate.

Mrs. Bowers spent most of her life in Fountain county.  When they reside in Hillsboro her husband was publisher of the Hillsboro Times and later w as a publisher at Colfax and in California, before moving to Michigan.

She was born July 3 1880 in Indianapolis, the daughter of Henry C. and Melissa McKensey Ellis.  On July 3 1900, she was married to Warren C. Bowers.  The survivors include the husband; a son; two daughters, two grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a sister Mr. Bertha Lyons, who resides in California.  She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and a daughter.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday at the North Adams Methodist church and the body was brought to Hillsboro Wednesday with graveside services held in Rose Hill cemetery at 3 p.m.
