Lafayette—Marion C. Bower, 83, a resident of Heritage Healthcare Center, Lafayette, died at 10:20 a.m. Saturday, May 27, 1989 in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center. He had been ill several years.
  He was born Aug. 10, 1905 in West Lafayette, the son of William B. and Clara Porter Bower. He was married Oct. 10., 1923 in West Lafayette to Mary Richardson, who preceded him in death July 13, 1980.
  He had spent most of his life in the Lafayette area and attended Antioch School. He formerly resided at the Friendship House in Lafayette.
  He farmed in Fountain County near Attica and later was employed at Duncan Meter in Lafayette and was a custodian at Smith Hall on the Purdue University campus.
  He was a member of First Assembly of God in Lafayette and a former member of the National Guard.
  Surviving are four sons, Joseph, Lafayette; Amos C., Attica; Donald, Denver, Colo., and Larry, Adolphus, Ky.; five daughters, Mrs. Edward (Esther) Smart and Mrs. Robert (Edna) Pierce, both of Attica; Mrs. James (Beverly) Emery and Caroline Darling, both of Lafayette, and Mrs. Jack (Marybelle) Smock, Rossville, Ill.; one brother, William F., West Lafayette; a sister, Arvilla Edmunson, Donovan, Ill.; 32 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren, and a good friend, Catherine Dobson, Lafayette. He was also preceded in death by two sons, one granddaughter and one brother.
  Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Maus Funeral Home Chapel, Attica, with the Rev. Charles E. Hackett and the Rev. Edward Summerfield officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Visitation was 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. – thanks to S
