Raymond Paul "Ray"
Bowen, 79, of Hillsboro, Rt. 3, Veedersburg, died at 4:40 a.m. Tuesday, March
8, 1994 in United Samaritan Medical Center, Logan Campus, in Danville, Ill. He
had been in ill health. Born July 6, 1914, in Lafayette, he moved from Indiana
to Detroit at the age of 4 and was a graduate of Denby High School. He lived in
Detroit until moving to Rt. 3, Veedersburg, in 1972. Mr. Bowen was a machinist
at Eaton Manufacturing in Detroit, retiring there in 1972. After moving here he
worked part time at Hillsboro Grain Elevator. He married Agnes Rita Authier on
May 8, 1937, in Detroit. Surviving, with his wife, are: five sons, Paul D Bowen
of Hartley, Texas, John L. Bowen and Joseph A. Bowen, both of Detroit, Raymond
M. Bowen of White Bluff, Tenn., and Robert A. Bowen of Rt. 3, Veedersburg; four
daughters, Mrs. Bob (Judy). Mugridge, Mrs. Robert (Elizabeth) Swanson and Mary
Guerra, all of Detroit and Mrs. Art (Brenda) Dougherty of Danville, Ill.; 27
grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a twin
brother, Robert A. Bowen. Visitation 5-8 Thursday at Maus Funeral Home,
Hillsboro. Service in Maus Chapel at 1 p.m. Friday with Rev. Greg McDonald
officiating. Interment at Clark Cemetery, Clarks Hill. Memorial contributions
may be made to American Cancer Society. –
