BOORD, Frederick Rice

Word of the death of Frederick Rice Boord, age 63, a native of Covington, at his home, 731 E. Locust, San Antonio, Texas, on March 22, 1963, was received here the latter part of last week. He died suddenly and unexpectedly following a heart attack. Mr. Boord was born in Covington June 24, 1899, the son of Fred C. and Virginia Rice Boord. He attended the local schools and upon graduation from high school, he joined the Army and attained the rank of Sergeant. He served in the Medical Corps during World War I. He and his two sons conducted an importing business. He was married to Mildred McQueen of Horseheads, New York and she survives. Also surviving are: two sons, Frederick R. Boord, Jr., and Hugh McQueen Boord of New York City; one daughter, Mrs. Mildred B. Patterson of San Antonio; and four grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Alca Mayo B. O’Conner of Corpus Christi, Texas. He was buried with full military honors at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on March 27.

Funeral services are pending with Roy Akers Funeral Home for Frederick Boord, 63 of 731 E Locust St, who died Friday. He was a member of American Legion Post 433, Ft Dode, Fla; the Central Christian Church and a resident of San Antonio for 27 years.  Boord is survived by his wife, Mildred; two sons, Frederick R and Hugh McQueen Boord, both of New York City; a daughter, Mrs. Mildred L. Patterson, San Antonio a grandson and a sister.
