Waynetown - Sim S. Booe, 51 of Chicago, Ill a veteran of WWI died at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Veterans hospital in Indianapolis. He had been a patient there for 3 weeks. Mr. Booe was born near Hillsboro Sept 14, 1899, the son of Steb and Elizabeth Pithoud Booe. He married Elsie M. Arnhart in Decatur, Ill Sept 16, 1920. he was a farmer and member of the American Legion Post 188 at Hillsboro. He is survived by his widow, Bessie M, a son Charles W. Booe, at home; his father, Steb Booe of HIllsboro, 4 brothers, Theodore and Herbert of Urbanan, Ill; Hubert and Malcolm of Chicago Ill; three sisters,(sic) Mrs. Marie Groves of Bloomington, Ill; Mrs. Elvira Bauer Cooper of Decatur, Ind. (sic) Funeral services will be at the Grenard & Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Harney S. Burns will be in charge. .Burial will be in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Graveside rites will be conducted at the Hillsboro American Legion post. Friends may call at the funeral home.

Sim S. BOOE, 51, World War I veteran who resided on a farm near Hillsboro died in surgery at the Veterans Hospital in Indianapolis at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 26. Mr. Booe had been in ill health for several weeks and entered the Veterans Hospital three weeks ago for observation. He spent the past weekend at his home here, returning to the hospital Sunday evening to undergo surgery on Tuesday morning. He was born in Hillsboro Sept 17, 1899 the son of Stebb & Elizabeth Pithoud Booe. Sept 16, 1920 he married Elsie Barnhart of Urbana, Ill. They moved to this vicinity 18 years ago and he was engaged in farming. Mr. Booe was a member of Memorial Post American Legion of Hillsboro. Surviving are the widow and one son Charles William and his father Stebb Booe of Hillsboro; three sisters, Mrs. Marie Groves, Bloomington, Ill; Mrs. Elvira Bauer of Chicago and Mrs. Margaret Cooper of Decatur, Ind; four brothers: Hubert and Malcolm Booe of Chicago; Tom and Herbert Booe of Urbana Ill and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the Grenard & Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown at 2 p.m. Friday with burial in the Masonic cemetery at Waynetown. The Memorial Post American Legion of Hillsboro conducted the military service. – kbz
