Mrs. Effie Booe, 66 years old and the wife of Baler Booe, died at her home in Veedersburg at 8 o’clock last Friday night Jan 25 after suffering a stroke a week earlier. She was born near Crawfordsville on June 18, 1885 the daughter of Taylor and Hanna Davis Alston. She was married to Balser Booe in 1903. Surviving besides the husband are five sons: Russell, Lawrence and Charles, all of Veedersburg; Orval of Hillsboro and Gene of Danville, Ill; three daughters, Mrs. Hazel Hay, Danville, Ill; Mrs. Dorothy Rasmussen; Williams Bay, Wisc; and Mrs. Betty Reynolds, Veedersburg; two brothers, William and Howard Alston, Veedersburg, and two sisters, Mrs. Florence Harper and Mrs. Ada Ellingwood both of Veedersburg and 26 grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the EUB Church conducted by the pastor, Rev. Floyd Everly with burial in Cold Spring cemetery. – kbz
