Glen L. Bonebrake, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hardy Bonebrake of Los Angeles, was killed in action in the South Pacific, while serving with the US Navy. He had been in the Pacific for 23 months at the time of his death. He is survived by the parents, four sisters, Mrs. Wilma Wisdon, Mrs. Vera Chaffin, Mrs. Gladys Wilson and Hazel Bonebrake, all of Los Angeles and two brothers, Gorman T. Bonebrake, shipfitter first class in the Southwest Pacific and Hardy D. Bonebrke, who has just returned from the central Pacific after receiving a medical discharge from the Army Air forces. Final funeral rites will be held this coming Sunday afternoon Sept 19 for First Class Petty Officer Glen L. Bonebrake. The services will be held at 2 p.m. at The Centennial Church burial in the adjoining cemetery. The World War II veteran was a native of Fountain County and the son of Hardy Z and Dora Lindley Bonebrake now of Bakersfield, California. He died April 12, 1946 while serving in the Navy in the Philippines. The body arrived in Veedersburg via the the NY Central RR last Saturday and is being held in the Fishero Funeral Home awaiting the arrival of the parents. The American Legion Posts of Veedersburg and Kingman will be in charge of the military rites. He was born March 1, 1906 in Fountain County and is survived by the parents; two brothers, Gorman and Hardy of Bakersfield, California; four sisters, Mrs. Wilma Wisdom and Mrs. Gladys Wilson also of Bakersfield; Mrs. Vera Griffin of LA and Mrs. Hazel Bonebrake of Austin, Texas. Two aunts residing in this section are Mrs. Iva Ferguson of Elliott and Mrs. Jonie Bever of Kingman.

reported killed.
Glen L. Bonebrake, painter first class, was killed in the south Pacific April 17, according to casualty lists released today in which four other Kern men were reported wounded and two servicemen as Prisoners of War of Germany. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Hardy Bonebrake of 600 Monterey Street, the sailor had served in the South Pacific for 23 months with the US Naval Reserve at the time he was reported killed. Besides his parents, the man is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Wilma Wisdom, Mrs. Vera Chaffin, Mrs. Gladys Wilson and Hazel Bonebrake, all of LA; and two brothers, Gorman T. Bonebrake, shipfitter first class, in the SW Pacific and Hardy D. Bonebrake, who has just returned from the central Pacific after receiving a medical discharge from the Army Air Force. (rest missing)

Funeral services for Glen Bonebrake will be held at the Centennial Church next Sunday, Sept. 19, at two o’clock. Mr. Bonebrake’s body arrived in Veedersburg this week and was returned from the Pacific Theater of War where he died about five years ago. He was the son of Hardy Bonebrake, Bakersfield, Calif. – S&E
