Ezra Bonebrake, former police judge of the city of Parsons, died at his home, 1635 Gabriel avenue, this afternoon after an illness of eighteeen months. he would have been 82 years of age in April. Mr. Bonebrake was born near Veedersburg, Fountain county, Indiana, April 22, 1841. He resided in that state until 1879 when he came to Kansas and took up his residence at Humbolt. The next year he moved to a farm near Altamont and about thirty years ago moved to Parsons. In Parsons Mr. Bonebrake served as city weighmaster for a number of years and was later appointed to the police judgeship, a position which he filled with honor and integrity for many years. He had not been actively engaged in a business way for the past few years. A year ago last July he underwent an operation for uremic poisoning and on account of his age he had never fully recovered. He had been very near death for several days. He was married when 19 years of age to Amanda J. Baker and to them four children were born: R. H. Bonebrake of Oakland, California and D. C. Bonebrake, Ed Bonebrake and Mrs. Frank Modlin of Parsons. All of his children survive him. His wife died in 1904 and he later married her sister, Margaret Kiger, who survives him. Mr. Bonebrake was a member of the G.A.R. and a devoted member of the Baptist church. His funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the First Baptist Church, Dr. Smoot officiating, and interment will be at the Elston cemetery near Altamont.
