Funeral services were held for Joseph Bone, 76 who lived in the east part of Covington, Monday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. W. McGaughey of Veedersburg. Interment was in Mount Hope Cemetery. Mr. Bone had been ailing for several years and passed away last Saturday evening. He is survived by one son. Though Mr. Bone was blind from infancy, he was one of the most industrious men in Covington. Having acquainted himself with all part of the city he knew where nearly every citizen lived and could find his way to nearly every one’s home unassisted. Many cold, wintry days one could se Jasper, as he was familiarly called, with buck and saw on his shoulder, making for some home to saw wood. He finally took on a partner, with young blood, deceased, who was almost totally blind and the two spent many happy days in the dead of winter, sawing wood. During the fair season, these two with their sweet voices, lightened the burden of many at fairs in surrounding towns.
