James Ray Bolin, 81, of Pence, died Tuesday afternoon (May 16, 1972) at Community Hospital. He had been a patient since Sunday and had been ill two years. Born in Moultrie County, Ill., Aug. 31, 1890, he was the son of Nathan and Zerelda Dunlap Bolin. On July 4, 1920, in Paris, Ill., he married Alta Runyan, who survives. A resident of Pence for six years, he had spent the rest of his life in Edgar County, Ill. He was a retired railroad worker with the New York Central for 15 years. A veteran of World War I, he was a member of the Grandview, Ill., Methodist Church, Kansas, Ill., Masonic Lodge 280 F & AM; Order of Eastern Star at Hillsboro, Ill., and 50-year member and one of the founders of the American Legion Post 211 at Paris. Other survivors include two sons, James W. of Casey, Ill., and Ted R. of Pence; a daughter, Mrs. Annabelle Richey of Pence; a brother Glenn in Arkansas; a half-brother, Earl of Bicknell; two sisters, Mrs. Bayrea Jeffris of McGrath, Minn., and Mrs. Hazel Goodell of Orlando, Fla.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services were Friday at the Fisher Funeral Home in Williamsport, with the Rev. Charles Anderson and the Rev. Chuck Smith officiating. Burial was in Jordan Cemetery at Pence. Masonic services were conducted by his sons at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
