WAYNETOWN - Mary V. Bolen, 92, died at 6:15 p.m. Thursday at the home of a son, Leland, in Waynetown. She had been bedfast five months, her condition becoming serious a week ago. A native of Hamilton County, she was born Nov. 4, 1872 near Noblesville to David and Mary Ann Owen Harris. She married George Bolen at her home there Aug. 29, 1894. He died Sept. 13, 1954. Since then she made her home with her children. Mrs. Bolen was a member of the Walnut Grove Church at State Line and attended Liberty Church north of Waynetown. She was a member of the Liberty Ladies Aid. She was educated at Noblesville and moved to Montgomery County 57 years ago. Surviving are two sons, Forest Bolen of Rt. 2 Waynetown and Leland; two daughters, Mrs. Carrie Merrell of Rt. 2 Waynetown and Mrs. Gertrude Hayes of Crawfordsville; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and three sisters, Mrs. Vina Jones of Denver, Colo., Mrs. Nellie Messick of Rankin, Ill., and Mrs. Pearl Bohn of Curlew, Iowa. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, a sister and three brothers. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Servies Funeral Home here with Rev. John Servies officiating and interment in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.

WAYNETOWN – Funeral services for Mrs. Mary V. Bolen were held Saturday afternoon at the Servies Funeral Home with Rev. John R. Servies officiating. Requested selections, “Beyond the Sunset” and “The Sweet Bye and Bye,” were included in organ music played by Mrs. Nellie Snyder. The pallbearers were grandsons, John R. Hayes, Tom Bolen, Fred Pittman, Willard Allen, Gene Land and James Rosner. Flowers were carried by great-grandchildren: Donald Pittman, Rebecca Pittman, Steve Allen, Terry Allen, Mike Allen, Dave Allen and Judy Hendricks. Burial was in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. – jlr
