JD Fine Boggs of Houston, Texas and a former resident of Veedersburg and Fountain County died suddenly Sunday night at his home in Houston of a heart attack. Mr. Boggs lived for many years in Veedersburg and Covington and was once Fountain County Surveyor. He moved to Florida with his family and became one of the best known construction contractors in the South. During World War II he moved to Houston where he became associated with the Shipbuilding industry. In recent years he was again a construction contractor. His death came on his 64th birthday. He was born in Veedersburg in 1891 the son of Susanna Fine and Ira Boggs. He was a graduate of Veedersburg HS and Purdue University. He was married to Grace DeHaven of Covington and was a member of the Veedersburg Masonic Lodge. Surviving is the wife, Grace, two son, Jack and Jake both of Houston; two daughters, Mrs. Jill Miller of Oakland, Calif; Mrs. Joyce Flanigan in Japan; five sisters, Mrs. Maude Burgner, Miss Rose Boggs, Miss Lois Boggs all of Veedersburg; Mrs. Gladys Furr of South Bend; Mrs. Katherine Tanksley of Brook; and two brothers, Arthur of Veedersburg and Paul D of Mitchell, Indiana. He was preceded in death by two brothers, William I and Claude Boggs. Funeral services and burial were Wednesday afternoon in Houston at the Presbyterian Church. – kbz
