Joe BOGGS, 57 years old, a native of Veedersburg and a retired vaudeville trouper, died in a Wharton, Tex, hospital early Saturday March 1, after participating in a benefit performance for the Shringers Crippled Children’s Ball in Wharton. He had lived in Houston, Texas the last 7 years. He was a son of the late Joseph Boggs, a Veedersburg contractor many years ago.  He started as a ministrel in 1914 and traveled the big variety circuit in the days of Joelson, Cantor et al and made a reputation s a blackface comedy entertainer when vaudeville was it its height. He started as a ministrel in 1914. During WWII he and his wife managed the cafeteria at the Rome, NY Air Base. Surviving besides the widow, Mrs. Myrtle Dorothy Boggs, are two brothers Frank Boggs of Houston and Harry Boggs of San Antonio and a sister, Mrs. Juanita Becker of Houston. Funeral services were held Monday with burial in Houston.
