Allan (sic) Claude Boggs, former Veedersburg resident died suddenly about 4 a.m. Wednesday morning at his farm home near Berrien Center, Michigan.  Mr. Boggs was 67 years old and died the morning of his birthday.  His early life was spent in the Veedersburg community and he visited last week here with friends and relatives.  He was born near Wallace the son of Ira and Susanna Fine Boggs and moved to Veedersburg at an early age.  He was a graduate of the Veedersburg HS and Purdue University.  He spent most of his later life in South Bend where he was sate architect for the Standard Oil Company.  Since his retirement a few years ago, he lived on a farm in Michigan.  Surviving is the wife, Alice, two sons, Allan and Byron and one grandchild; three brothers, Fine of Houston, Texas; Dewey of Martinsville and Arthur of Veedersburg; five sisters, Mrs. Maude Burgner, Miss Lois Boggs both of Veedersburg; Mrs. Gladys Furr of South Bend, Mrs. Norman Tanksley of Brook and Miss Rose E. Boggs of Richmond.  Funeral services are on Friday afternoon at the Trinity Church in South Bend at 2 p.m. daylight time.  Burial will be in South Bend.- kbz

Allen Claude Boggs was born near Wallace, Ind May 17, 1884.  He was the son of Ira and Susanna Fine Boggs and at an early age came with his parents to Veedersburg where he grew to manhood.  Here he attended both grade and high school graduating with the class of 1902.  After graduation he became shipping clerk at the HP Wasson Store in Indianapolis.  He resigned this position to enter Purdue University and received the Civil Engineering degree there in 1910.  For several years he was Engineer in charge with the Pennsylvania railroad with offices in Pittsburgh, PA. Later he returned to Indiana and was identified with the Standard Oil Company and was located at South Bend.  About five years ago he retired from active duty and moved to Berrien Center, Michigan living on a farm which he purchased.  Occasionally, he did some surveying as he was loathe to give up a profession which he greatly enjoyed.  He loved life and people and just a week before his passing he visited Veedersburg and had occasion to relive some of his early life here with old friends and neighbors.  He was a devoted alumnus of Purdue University and had recently returned to the campus to join some of his old classmates in the 40th anniversary of his graduation.  Claude was a member of the Trinity Methodist Church, South Bend Consistory, South Bend Shrine Club, South Bend Knife and Fork Club, Veedersburg Lodge No 491 F&AM; Orak Shrine Temple, Hammond, Ind and the American Society of Civil Engineers.  On Dec 18, 1915, in Toledo, Ohio he married Alice Vaughn who survives. Other survivors are two sons, Allen C, Jr. and Byron V both of South Bend; a granddaughter; five sisters, Mrs. Omer E. Furr, South Bend; Mrs. Norman Tanskley of Brook; Miss Rose E. Boggs of Richmond, Ind; Mrs. JW Burgner and Miss Lois Boggs of Veedersburg and three brothers, J.D. Fine Boggs of Houston, Texas; Paul D of Martinsville and Arthur of Veedersburg and several nieces and nephews.  - kbz
