This month (November) we planned. to honor the birthday of our member, Irene Bodine, but God, in his infinite wisdom, has taken our beloved friend. Irene died Oct. 28, 1963. Handicapped all her life she fought for good health and to live a normal life. Her courage will always be an inspiration to us. Irene's life was full with her many hobbies, which included fishing, card playing, music and needle work. She was adept in all of these. Her love for her family and friends left a glow that will always be treasured. The Birthday Club feels this poem by Rosalie Carter could have been written especially for Irene. "I thank that God will never send A gift so precious as a friend A friend who always understands And fills each need as it demands; Whose loyalty will stand the test When skies are bright or over cast Who sees the faults that merit blame, But keeps on loving just the same Who does far more than creeds could do To make us good, to make us true. Earth's gifts, a sweet enjoyment lend, But only God can give a friend." The Wabash Township Birthday Club.
