COVINGTON, Ind. (CNS) - Services for John Blacketer, 85, a life resident of the Cates community who died Wednesday at Home Hospital, Lafayette, will be at 2 p.m. EST Saturday at Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home, Covington. The Rev. Lucille Esbenshade will officiate and burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Mr. Blacketer was a former coal miner and farmer and was born March 13, 1884 near Cates, the son of Norman and Elizabeth Abernathy Blacketer. He married Lena Campbell May 15, 1913 and she survives.

CATES, Ind. - John Blacketer, 85, died at 5:20 p.m. yesterday (Nov. 26, 1969) at Home Hospital, Lafayette where he had been a patient for a week. He had been seriously ill for three months. The body is at Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, where arrangements are incomplete.
