COVINGTON — Dorothy Jean Birge,
79, Covington, died at 12:13 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2006 in St. Vincent
Williamsport Hospital. She was born Nov. 21, 1926 in Scottsburg, the daughter
of Milton and Ora G. (Carlisle) Murphy. She married Jesse J. McDaniel April 8,
1943. He preceded in death May 13, 1962. She married William Henry Birge June
26, 1967. He preceded in death Aug. 8, 1986. She attended Pine Village High
School. She moved to Covington in 1955. She was a member of the First Church of
Christ. She was employed at G. E. in Danville, Ill. for many years. Survivors
include: a daughter, Robin (Timothy) Schultz, Covington; eight grandchildren;
and two step grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Gary
and Lynn McDaniel; a daughter, Kae Keeling; a step son Billy Birge; a grandson;
a brother; and a sister. Gravesite services will be at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday)
in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington, with Randy Walters officiating. Shelby Funeral
Home, Covington, is in charge of arrangements. – jlr
