William E. Bilsland, 85 of Covington died at 4 p.m. Friday in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville where he had been a patient five hours.  He had been in failing health several months.  Born Jan 28, 1871 near Covington he was a son of James and Jane White Bilsland. He was married to Della Richardson Oct 18, 1904 who survives.  Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Lora Grain, Riceville, Iowa and Mrs. Cinnie Cooper of Hillsboro, Ind.  He was a member of Covington Methodist Church and Fountain Lodge 60 F&AM.  He operated a grocery store here fo4r 18 years and then affiliated with the Fountain Trust Co for 35 years, first as cashier and later as head of the insurance department.  He retired in 1945.  Masonic services were conducted at the graveside. At time of death he was president of the Covington Building & Loan Assn and treasurer of the Mt. Hope Cemetery board.  He was a member of the church board many years, a past patron of Order of Eastern Star and past master of Covington Masonic Lodge.  Funeral services were held at Covington Methodist Church with Rev. C Kenneth Powell and Rev. G. Elwood Anderson officiating.  Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery with Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. – kbz
