Covington – Funeral services for Henry Knapper Bilsland, Sr, 66, widely-known Covington businessman who died Wednesday night at Carle Memorial Clinic, Urbana-Champaign, Ill will be held at 2:30 o’clock this afternoon at Covington Methodist Church.  Fountain Masonic Lodge will conduct graveside rites in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Born north of here, he began his business career as a clothing salesman in Indianapolis, then operated a farm near here from 1907 until 1928. Made assistant manger that year of the International Harvester store at Danville, Ill, he later managed the company’s Lafayette store and became a partner with his son, HK Bilsland, Jr in the farm implement firm’s Covington store 13 years ago.  Active in Masonic affairs, he also was a charter member and three-time president of the Covington Lions Club, director of the Chamber of Commerce and Kiwanis Club at Lafayette and a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and Methodist Church. Surviving besides the son, are the widow, two sisters, Mrs. Mary Smith and Mrs. Leota Johnk, both of Covington; a brother, Frank Bilsland, Wilmette, and three grandchildren. - kbz

H. Knapper Bilsland, Sr, 65 years old and a prominent Covington business man died at 5:10 p.m. Wednesday of a heart attack in the Carle Clinic at Urbana, Ill where he had arrived shortly before. He was stricken shortly after undergoing a physical exam.  Mr. Bilsland was born in Fountain County July 6, 1885 he son of John and Belle Knapper Bilsland. He was married to Louise Coffing of Covington on Nov 2, 1910 who survives with one son, HK Bilsland, Jr, three grandchildren, two sisters and a brother, Mrs. Mary Smith and Mrs. Leota Johns, both of Covington and Frank Bilsland of Wilmette, Ill. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 Saturday afternoon at the Covington Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Homer Farthing with burial in Mt. Hope cemetery. – kbz
