Covington
– Earl Rudolph Bilsland, 83 of Terre Haute, a former resident of Covington and
a retired assistant Covington postmaster died (in) at 7:10 a.m. Sunday in the
Cannon Inn Retirement Home in Terre Haute.
Mr. Bilsland was born July 9, 1908 in Covington. A lifelong residence of
Covington, he married Mary Hazel Duncan on August 31, 1929. She died Dec 7,
1986. He graduated from Covington High
School in 1928. He was a postal service carrier and former assistant postmaster
in Covington for 32 years, retiring in 1970.
Mr. Bilsland was a member of the Covington United Methodist Church, a
member and past commander of the Fulton Banta American Legion Post at Covington
and a member and past chancellor of Tidal Lodge Knights of Pythias Lodge. He was a WWII Army veteran. Surviving are a daughter, Jeanne Miller of
Mishawaka; and two sons, Robert E. Bilsland of Terre Haute and James Bilsland
of West Terre Haute. Service will be Wednesday in Covington. – thanks to Connie W.
