Brook—Loren P. Biddle, 78, Brook, died at 4:15 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 1989 in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, Lafayette, after a lengthy illness. He had been hospitalized three days.
He was born Nov. 6, 1910 and was a native of Kentland. He was first married June 18, 1949 in Brook, to Loretta K. Whaley, who preceded him in death Sept. 6, 1985. He was married Sept. 10, 1987 to Blanche Alliss, who survives.
He was a retired field engineer for General Telephone of Illinois in Sparta, Ill. He worked there for 35 years, retiring June 30, 1972.
After his retirement, he moved to Brownsville, Texas, lived there six years, then moved to West Lafayette, where he lived six years. He moved to Brook from West Lafayette.
He was a member of First Christian Church of Brook; a life member of Independent Pioneer Telephone Association; a member of Hope Masonic Lodge 162 of Sparta; Order of Eastern Star, Sparta Chapter 411; Scottish Rite Temple, Valley of Southern Illinois in Belleville; and Shrine Ainad Temple of East St. Louis, Ill.
Surviving besides his wife are two stepsons, Gordon Johnson, Boswell, and Dean Johnson, Williamsport; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Dolee barker, Hoopeston, Ill.; a half brother, Clarence L. Biddle, Peru; eight step grandchildren; one step great grandchild, and 30 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today (Tuesday) at Weston-Gerts Funeral Home, Brook, with the Rev. Fred Keim officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Brook. – thanks to S
