COVINGTON — Joyce Marie Bever, 67, 619 Ninth St., Covington, died at 4:20 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, 2000 in Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. She was born Sept. 24, 1933 in Kingman, the daughter of John B. and Mazie Summers Tibbett. She married Glen S. Bever July 12, 1952. He preceded in death Aug. 29, 1995. She was a graduate of Kingman High School and a resident of Covington since 1952. She was a Girl Scout Leader and Cub Scout Den Mother for several years and a former member of Job's Daughters Bethel 57 of Covington. She had been employed as a cook at Covington Manor Health Care Center, and most recently at the Vermilion County, Ill. jail. Survivors include: two sons, Michael (Maria) Bever, Stamford, Conn. and Gary (Leslie) Bever, Logansport; three daughters, Rene Mercer, Nashville, Tenn., Lori Botkin, Charlotte, N.C. and Amy (Fred) Justice, Covington; a brother, Jack (Ann) Tibbett, Crawfordsville; a sister, Vonnie Pavey, Danville, Ill.; five grandsons, Robert Bever and Derek Bever, David Mercer, Nashville, Tenn. and Jacob Justice and Caleb Justice, both of Covington; and a granddaughter, Sarah Mercer, Nashville, Tenn. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a son-in-law. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, with Pastor Joe Davis officiating. Burial was in Rockfield Cemetery, Veedersburg. – jlr
