BEST, William Arthur

William Arthur Best, 67, Attica, died at 8:40 a.m. Sunday, October 30, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Danville, Illinois.

  Born October 8, 1916 in Attica, he was the son of William H. and Maggie Bell Best. October 8, 1947, he married Glenadine Harper, who survives. A lifelong resident of the Attica area, he attended Attica schools and had worked in the housing department of Harrison Steel Castings Company in Attica. He served in the Army during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of VFW Post 3318 and formerly attended the Attica Free Methodist Church.

  Other survivors include a son, Gene Best of Attica; two brothers, Robert Best of Williamsport and Donald L. Best of Attica; a sister, Mrs. Robert Barron of Sacramento, California; and one grandchild.
  Services were conducted Wednesday at Maus Funeral Home in Attica with Rev. James Rea officiating. Burial was in Rainsville Cemetery near Pine Village. The family asked that any memorials be in the form of contributions to the Fountain County Cancer Society. -s-
