HILLSBORO, Ind. – Robert W. Berry, 69, of Hillsboro, died at 10:30 a.m. Monday (Oct. 8, 1979) at Home Hospital in Lafayette. He had been ill five months with cancer. Born Aug. 22, 1910, near Danville, Ill., he was the son of William and Bertha Gray Berry. He was married July 7, 1928, at Crown Point, Ind., to Lucille Reath, who survives. Berry had been service manager for the Pitman Auto Co. in Hillsboro from 1937 to 1957. He was last employed by the Indiana State Highway Department. He was a Republican Precinct Committeeman for many years and had been a delegate to the Republican state convention several times. He was a member of the Hillsboro Booster Club. He was educated in the Georgetown, Ill., schools. Other survivors include three sons, Robert E. of Crawfordsville, Gerald H. of Plainfield and Michael L. of Greentown; four daughters, Mrs. Don (Patricia) Meister of Crawfordsville, Ms. Leta Berry of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Russell (Janice) Serie of Attica and Mrs. Larry (Phylis) Williams of Roachdale; two sisters, Mrs. Virgil (Lavon) Gore of Danville and Mrs. Don (Alice) Peeples of Dyer; two brothers, Rev. J. R. Berry of Prairie Creek, Mo., and Guy Berry of St. John, Ind.; 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Crumley-Williams Funeral Home in Hillsboro. The Rev. Dorman Winger will officiate. Burial will be in the Bonebrake Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
