Hillsboro – Lucille Berry, 86, a former correspondent of the Fountain County Neighbor died Friday June 18, 1993 at 8:15 a.m. in the Americana Healthcare Center, Kokomo. She had been in ill health for four years and a resident of Kokomo since 1992. She was born in Indianapolis on August 6, 1906, the daughter of Henry A. and Nancy Etta Gossett Reath. She was raised in alamo and moved to Hillsboro in 1937. She was married July 7, 1928 in Crown Point to Robert William Berry. He preceded her in death Oct 8, 1979. She was a graduate of Alamo HS and attended Illinois State Normal College. She taught school from 1926 through 1928 in a one-room school in Vermilion County, Ill. She later worked at the Hopkins Syndicate in Mellott and at the Bank of Western Indiana in Hillsboro. She had been a correspondent for the Attica star Tribune and Neighbor, the Crawfordsville Journal-Review and the Danville Commercial News newspapers. She was a member of the Hillsboro Christian Church, Senior Citizens of Hillsboro, Cain Township Home Demonstration Club, Hillsboro Christian Fellowship and CHOICE Friendship. Surviving are three sons, Michael L, Kokomo; Dr. Gerald H, EDD, Lebanon, Robert Eugene, Crawfordsville; four daughters, Mrs. Russell (Janice) Serie, Attica; Mrs. Leta Berry, Washington, Md; Mrs. Larry (Phyllis) Williams, New Castle; Mrs. Patricia Griffiths, Newport News, VA; 19 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Randolph at infancy and a sister, Geneva. Service were at 10:30 Monday June 21, 1993 at Maus Funeral Home, Hillsboro with Rev. Craig Wascovich officiating. Burial was to be in the Bonebrake Cemetery, Veedersburg. Visitation was Sunday from 5-8.
