Attica—Hershel L. Benskin, 73, 107 W. Pike St., Attica, died at 11:55 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, 1989, at Home Hospital, Lafayette. He had been ill sine May.

  He was born June 28, 1915, in Terre Haute, the son of Walter and Maranda Hasting Benskin. He was married Sept. 15, 1952, in Williamsport to Mary Solomon, who survives.

  He had formerly lived near Clinton and at Stewart in Warren County and had resided in Attica the past 20 years.

  He had attended school in Clinton. He had worked at an elevator in Stewart and had retired from Harrison Steel Castings Company, Attica, in 1978, where he had worked in the cleaning room.

  He had formerly attended Williamsport Christian Church.

  Surviving, besides his wife are one daughter, Mrs. Clem (Linda) Velasquez, Phoenix, Ariz.; two sons, Eugene, Williamsport and Hershel Eugene, Fowler; four brothers, Harold, Clyde and Herbert, all of Clinton, and Forrest, Memphis, Tenn.; one sister, Margaret Christy, Clinton, and five grandchildren.

  Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday in Maus Funeral Home Chapel, Attica, with Pastor Karl Korbel officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Attica.
