Perry Edward Bennett, 77, of Mellott, died at 4:30 p.m. yesterday (Dec. 12, 1968) at Lake View Memorial Hospital in Danville. He had been a patient there since Tuesday after being transferred from the Community Hospital in Williamsport. Born May 18, 1891, in Marshall, he was the son of Nathaniel and Malinda Delp Bennett. He was married, Nov. 20, 1915, at Rockville, to Nora Harris of Thompkinsville, Ky., who survives. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Crumley-Williams Funeral Home in Hillsboro. The Rev. Richard Austin will officiate. Burial will be in Wolfe Creek Cemetery. Typed by MGJ, Jan 23, 2012

MELLOTT – Perry Bennett, age 77, died at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, in Lake View Memorial Hospital in Danville, Ill., where he had been a patient since Dec. 7. He was born May 18, 1891, in Marshall, the son of Nathaniel and Malinda Delp Bennett. He was married to Nora Harris in Tompkinsville, Ky. A former resident of Romney, he moved to Mellott in 1940. He was a retired railroad employee and a member of the Modern Woodmen of America. Surviving, in addition to the wife, are: one son, Ralph of Hillsboro; one daughter, Mrs. George (Mary Eva) Oakley of Mellott; one brother, William of Veedersburg; three sisters, Mrs. Goldie Barth of Bloomingdale, Mrs. Iva Smith of Williamsport and Mrs. Ina Allen of Newtown; five grandchildren and four-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Crumley-Williams Funeral Home in Hillsboro. The Rev. Richard Austin officiated and burial was in Wolf Creek Cemetery, south of Wallace.
