Jesse Adams Bennett, 77, a life resident of Cayuga, died at 10:15 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, at Lakeview Medical Center, Danville, Ill., where he had been a patient since July 31. He was born Sept. 22, 1908, in Eugene, the son of Charles A. and Effie Adams Bennett. He married Bernice Jewell Jan. 29, 1929, in Danville. She survives. He was employed with the Chicago & Eastern Illinois Railroad as a signalman for 40 years. He was later employed with Sandborn Electric Company for eight years, retiring in 1975. He was a member of St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, Georgetown, Ill. He enjoyed fishing and traveling. Surviving, besides his wife, are two daughters, Mrs. Karl (Mary Ann) VanSant, Eugene, and Mrs. Ferman P. (Phyllis) Smith, Georgetown; five sons, Charles "Fred", Danville; Richard "Tony", Route 1, Williamsport; David, Jack ad Michael, all of Cayuga; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Jo, a son, Thomas J. Bennett, his parents, a brother, Paul, and a sister, Magdaline Woodard. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m.. Saturday at DeVerter Brothers Funeral Home, Cayuga, with Father John Paninski officiating. Burial was in Georgetown Cemetery, Georgetown, Ill. Rosary was at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Those so desiring may contribute in memoriam to the Renal Dialysis Unit Fund of Lakeview Medical Center, Danville, Ill.
