NEWTOWN — Christel (Crawford) Bell, 105, formerly of Newtown and had been residing in Woodland Manor Nursing Center, Attica, died at 9:40 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, 2000 in the nursing center. She was born Sept. 15, 1894 in Attica, the daughter of John and Laura Louella Shultz Crawford. She married W. Lynn Bell Dec. 29, 1915 in Newtown. He preceded in death March 4, 1960. She graduated from Attica High School in 1912. She had lived in the Newtown community all her married life until going into the nursing center June 24, 1987. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Newtown Community Church and former Sunday schoool teacher. She was a member of the Jackson Heights Research Club. Survivors include: a son, Walter C. Bell, Wingate; six grandchildren, Reid Bell, Newtown, David Bell, Wingate, Kirby Lupton, Kettering, Ohio, Jana Taylor, Brookston, Mark Lupton, Anderson, Diana Lupton, Largo, Fla.; 15 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Twyla June Lupton; two sisters, Eva Aamodt and Alma Crawford; and a brother, John Crawford, Jr. Funeral services were at noon Tuesday in the Newtown Community Church with Michael Parks officiating. Burial was in Newtown Cemetery. Maus Funeral Home, Attica, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Newtown Community Church. – jlr
